Throwing a New Year’s Eve Party Your Friends Will Remember

By Lependorf & Silverstein on December 19, 2013

New Jersey Personal InjuryNew Year’s Eve is quickly approaching. Planning a New Year’s Eve party can be a lot of fun. It can also be stressful if you don’t know what to do or how to go about it. Here are some tips to help you plan a New Year’s Eve party that your guests and friends will remember for a long time – in a good way!

Decorations are effective at getting everyone in a celebratory mood. You can put up simple decorations or go extravagant, depending on your budget. Planning your party around a theme such as “black-and-white” or “roaring ’20s” can be a lot of fun. Laser lights, mini disco balls, or colored light bulbs can add a festive touch to your party. And of course, noisemakers are a must for any New Year’s Eve party.

Having a formal sit-down meal is going to be difficult at a New Year’s Eve party. Finger foods are always a good option so that guests can mingle. Doing a buffet might also work well. For drinks, it’s a good idea to have both alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices.

It’s also wise to have entertainment planned in advance so that your guests don’t get bored. Music is always a great form of entertainment. If you have room, you could create a dance floor. When it gets closer to midnight, turn on the television to watch the ball drop. If kids are invited to your party, then you may want to have a kids-only area with crafts, games, and other activities set up for them. They may even want to watch cartoons or holiday-themed movies in another room.

Make sure all your guests have designated drivers. Offer a room or couch where they can stay if they are not in a position to drive or call them a cab.

We wish you and yours a happy holiday season and a Happy New Year!
