Fatal Accident on the New Jersey Turnpike Causes Traffic Delays
Robbingsville, NJ (April 21st, 2022) – Shortly before 4 a.m. on April 21st., authorities received multiple calls reporting a fatal accident involving a large commercial truck on the New Jersey Turnpike near milepost 63.5, northbound lanes.
Both the Robbinsville and Hightstown Fire Departments rushed to the scene of the accident that required extrication. The Capital Hill Paramedics, East Windsor EMS, and Robbinsville also responded to the scene of the accident.
The Hackensack University Medical Center dispatched a Medivac 2 to the scene, which landed at roughly 5:30 a.m. Unfortunately, the victim was declared dead at the same time.
The New Jersey Turnpike remained closed pending the investigation and roadway clean up.
According to an update provided by authorities, New Jersey State Troopers responded to the accident around 3:45 a.m. in Mercer County. It has been determined that 36-year-old Franklin S. Parker from Eden Maryland was operating the large commercial truck at the time of the accident.
Traveling on the northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike, Mr. Parker entered the left shoulder and struck the guardrail. This ultimately caused the big-rig to overturn and collide with a concrete bridge support. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined. The collision remains under investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
Every year, thousands of people are injured or killed in traffic accidents involving large commercial trucks. As a result of their large size, these commercial trucks can be very difficult to maneuver, especially when they are overloaded or have unsecured cargo. For many reasons, large commercial trucks pose serious risks to those who share the road, including other drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Whenever a person is seriously injured in a traffic accident involving a large commercial truck, the accident has the potential to cause catastrophic and life-changing injuries. Consequently, it is important that a claim is pursued in the aftermath of an accident to ensure sufficient monetary compensation is obtained. To have a favorable claim outcome, an experienced Garden State personal injury attorney should be retained.
Undoubtedly, every type of traffic accident can be a frightening, stressful, and devastating experience. Truck accidents, however, are usually particularly catastrophic. Since large commercial trucks, such as tractor-trailers, semis, and 18-wheelers are far bigger than the average car, an injury resulting from this type of accident can often be far more severe and even deadly. Considering the severity of these accidents, a well-established personal injury attorney will work diligently to ensure the rights and interests of the injured victims and their families are upheld throughout the case process.
Aside from this, traffic accident cases involving large commercial trucks usually involve multiple parties that could face liability for causing the accident. Dealing with multiple parties and their insurers can make it challenging to recover fair monetary compensation, particularly when handling the case alone.
Large commercial truck drivers are usually employed by private companies that will do all they can to ensure their reputation is protected. Furthermore, these companies and their insurers will work aggressively to ensure they pay the victim the least amount as possible following the accident. The trucking company’s insurance adjusters and attorneys may attempt to offer quick, low-settlement offers to victims who are desperate to pay for medical care. They could also use deceitful tactics to trick a victim into making statements that can be used against them. For this reason, it is important that injured victims and their families work closely with an attorney who is experienced in these types of cases and knows how to handle these aggressive parties.
Experienced personal injury attorneys can help relieve many of the burdens associated with large commercial truck accidents. Additionally, established attorneys will ensure the case is fully investigated so that responsibility can be established. With the support of a skilled personal injury attorney, securing the highest amount of monetary compensation is possible.
Depending on the facts of the case, monetary compensation can be obtained to cover the cost of an ambulance after an accident, the medical care received, hospital stays, and even at-home care. It may also be possible to secure compensation for future medical expenses, such as the need for future surgeries or ongoing therapy and rehabilitation.
It is important to know that since a large commercial truck accident has the potential to cause long lasting or permanent injuries, injured victims may be eligible to receive monetary restitution for their loss of wages and benefits over time taken off of work while in recovery. When the injury has resulted in an irreversible disability, victims may be eligible for a reduction in their earning potential.
Every year, thousands of lives are affected as a result of large commercial truck accidents. If you were recently hurt in a traffic accident involving a semi-truck or other type of commercial truck, you may be eligible for monetary compensation from the party that caused your accident. If you have lost a loved one as a result of a similar case, you may also be eligible for monetary compensation through a wrongful death claim filed against the negligent party that caused the accident.
