Driver Injured in New Jersey Head-On Collision
At least three people were injured in a recent New Jersey car accident involving a head-on collision. According to a news report in NJ.com, the serious injury accident occurred on Herbertsville Road between Route 547 and Newtons Corner Road in Howell. Officials have not released information regarding which vehicle veered into oncoming traffic. One of the drivers was flown to a nearby medical center in critical condition. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle complained of pain. It is not clear if either driver will be cited for the crash.
Some of the most devastating New Jersey car accidents involve head-on collisions. Investigators in these cases must determine why one of the drivers entered opposing lanes of traffic. Under New Jersey Statute 39:4-86, “The driver of a vehicle may not drive left of the center of a highway to pass another car going in the same direction unless that left side is clearly visible and free of oncoming traffic for a long enough distance ahead to allow you to overtake the car safely.”
Such accidents are often caused by driver impairment, fatigue, excessive speed, or distraction. If you or a loved one is injured in a head-on collision, you would be well advised to discuss your legal options with a skilled personal injury attorney. It may be possible to hold the at-fault driver financially accountable for the crash. In such cases, support may be available for medical bills, lost wages, suffering, and other related damages.
