Gallery Exhibit Celebrates National Bike Month in Trenton
Various celebrations and events surround the celebration of May as National Bike Month in Trenton. According to TrentonCycling.org, events included a First Friday Social Ride, “The Garden Tour,” Bike-to-Work Week, Brunch for Bikers held on Trenton Bike-to-Work-Day, a ribbon cutting ceremony held for new bike lanes, the 2013 Trenton Bike Tour, and Bikes and Barbeque at Artworks Trenton on Stockton Street.
The highlight of the celebration of National Bike Month in Trenton is “Unchained – The Art of the Bicycle,” an exhibit at Artworks Trenton Gallery held from May 11, through June 13. The bicycle-themed exhibit is intended to celebrate Trenton’s annual Cycling Revolution Trenton Bike Tour. This year will mark the 17th anniversary for the Trenton Bike Tour. The rest stop for the tour is always Artworks, and Artworks will also be the location of an after-tour party in the afternoon.
The annual Trenton Bike Tour is a 15-mile bike ride beginning in Olmsted-designed Cadwalader Park. The ride allows bicyclists to tour Trenton’s historic sights, community gardens, diverse neighborhoods, and streets. Riders consider the bike tour to be the best way to see the city, whether you are a local or an out-of-towner.
