Have You Been Hurt in a Speed-Related Car Crash?

The speed limit signs posted on roadways are there for a reason, and that is to help ensure all motorists are operating their vehicles safely. When drivers obey posted speed limits, they are usually able to maintain control of their vehicles, navigate roads safely, and respond quickly enough to avoid many accidents. Far too many drivers insist on ignoring state speed-related laws, however. These drivers are a menace on the roads, and their irresponsible actions routinely cause or contribute to car accidents, truck crashes, pedestrian accidents, or motorcycle collisions in New Jersey.

If you have been injured or lost a loved one in an accident that involved a speeding or otherwise aggressive driver, you may be entitled to compensation for all damages that resulted from the incident. The experienced New Jersey car crash attorneys at Lependorf & Silverstein, P.C. can help you establish the driver’s liability through evidence, testimony, and other strong supporting material. To learn more about what our firm can do for you, call us today at (609) 240-0040.

What are Other Forms of Aggressive Driving?

Speeding is usually symptomatic of other forms of aggressive driving, such as tailgating, failing to yield right of way, and general road rage, all of which are just as dangerous as speeding, if not more so. Motorists who engage in these kinds of behaviors may not only cause devastating accidents, but may also get themselves in trouble with the law. They may face a considerable fine or they may even face incarceration.

In 2012, Governor Chris Christie signed into law an anti-aggressive driving bill known as “Jessica’s Law.” It imposes severe penalties for “road rage” behavior. If a motorist causes an injury in a bout of road rage, they may face up to five years of incarceration along with exorbitant fines reaching a maximum of $15,000. The aggressive driving behaviors that are punishable under this law include tailgating, weaving, and, yes, speeding.
