$1.5 Million Settlement for Somerset County Restaurant Slip and Fall
Slip and Fall Down a Staircase
A 77-year old Somerset County resident accepted a 1.5 million dollar settlement on January 27, 2014 for injuries he suffered in February of 2000 following a slip and fall incident down a staircase at a restaurant in New Jersey. As a result of the fall, the plaintiff suffered a serious neck injury that required a multi-level fusion. Unfortunately, following the neck surgery the plaintiff developed deep vein thrombosis (DVT) which led to additional procedures and an extensive hospital stay. Liability was contested by the defendant and the settlement was reached through two days of mediation with a retired Superior Court Judge two months before the case was scheduled to go to trial.
